The Animal Protection Academy (APA) is a student-led organization established in February 2024 that advocates for animal welfare and rights while providing compassionate care for the furry residents of DKU. Since its founding, APA has promoted animal welfare education by raising awareness about responsible pet care and ethical interactions through on-campus workshops and off-campus shelter visits. One of their major initiatives is the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program, which also includes providing medical support for these animals. These efforts are essential for preventing the spread of zoonotic and feline diseases.

APA also actively engages with the DKU community to foster a compassionate campus through volunteer opportunities, themed events, and collaborative student-led activities.

Caring for the animals on campus comes with significant costs. APA relies on community fundraising, support from campus services, and external funding programs. If you would like to contribute to their efforts, feel free to reach out through their social media accounts.
