About Us
The Wildlife Observers Society (WOS) is a student-led club dedicated to exploring, documenting, and protecting the native biodiversity of Kunshan. By “Keep Nature Natural,” we connect ecological knowledge with hands-on conservation through observation, education, and research.
Nature Observation
We hold regular Friday bird walks, night walks, and seasonal outings, where members explore birds, insects, plants, and other local wildlife. Workshops also introduce skills such as species identification and leading nature tours.
Public Education
WOS organizes outreach events such as science booths, exhibitions, and interactive activities during campus and city events. These efforts bring ecological knowledge to the community in accessible and engaging ways.
Biodiversity Research
We conduct annual bird collision surveys and encourage every DKUer to participate, combining monitoring with long-term data collection for current building-window retrofitting and future campus building planning. Another flagship project is the “Wildlife Collection of DKU” on iNaturalist, where we aim to collect campus biodiversity data through citizen science.
